Slaying Lance+ became accessible to almost all units and gave a huge bulk boost to defensive units through bonus stats and Close Defense SS as well as the ability to ORKO any attacking unit that they could survive.

The Weapon refinery in the 2.0 update and the introduction of the Heavy Blade & Close Defense Sacred Seals gave rise to multiple builds. Without the Close Defense seal, defensive units could do little to stop the sheer power coming in from Brave doubles. Wrath and Slaying Lance+ introduced a massive power boost for Infantry lancers, but mounted units still relied on Brave Lances to do their heavy lifting. In this period, Brave Lance was used regardless of Spd, since Spd debuffing skills were limited to Threaten Spd, Quad Lance was limited to only the absolute fastest lancers in the game. In a time when Heavy Blade was limited to A slot, Firesweep lance was significantly weaker than its later permutations due to being unable to proc Galeforce without skipping out on an offensive A Slot, or having to rely on QP to proc offensive specials. The Progression of Lance Builds Pre-Wrath Before Nephenee was introduced, before Slaying Lance+ was a thing, the dominant lance build for all High Atk units was the Brave lance + Death Blow build.
